Our Story

FROM FIRE TO TABLE, ROOTED IN COMMUNITY

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Cinder & Sage began in 2017 as a small dream with big roots. Founders Elena and Marco—high school sweethearts with a love for traditional cooking and their East Austin neighborhood—built a taqueria centered on open-fire cooking, bold flavors, and genuine hospitality. What started as a food truck and a borrowed grill has grown into a place we're proud to call home.

We cook over live fire because it brings out the truest flavors—smoky, vibrant, and unforgettable. Our ingredients are sourced from local farms and trusted producers who share our commitment to quality and sustainability. From our handmade tortillas to our house-infused salsas and slow-cooked mole, every detail is rooted in tradition and elevated by creativity.

WE'RE MORE THAN A TAQUERIA—WE'RE YOUR NEIGHBOR.

We partner with local organizations, host fundraisers, and support fellow small businesses across Austin. Our patio is a space for late-night conversations, first dates, birthday celebrations, and everything in between. Good food brings people together, and that's what keeps our fire burning.
